The world’s most popular casino loyalty program, Total Rewards, recently unveiled its new app, the MyTR app. The new app works with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.
We took the new MyTR app for a test drive, of course. First, the app is free, and this blog loves it some free. Get it here.
After a snappy roulette-related animation while the app is loading, the app gives you three immediate choices: You can sign in (for existing Total Rewards members), use a “Contact Us” button (leading to a Casino Directory and FAQs), or check out some Entertainment and Packages offerings.
The main navigation for the app (along the bottom of the screen, see below) has these sections: Home, Rewards, Find a Casino, Search and Booking.
“Home” is a relatively safe, happy place featuring either a couple making out or a zombie gnawing on a woman’s cheek. We’re kind of partial to the zombie scenario.
Hey, a zombie might enjoy a fine wine from time to time.

“Rewards” is the Total Rewards section of the app. The app’s useful to non-Total Rewards members, of course, but it really shines if you sign in using your Total Rewards number and password.

If you’re signed in, there’s a whole new world of goodness in store. (Thanks, MyTR app, for retaining our Total Rewards number so we won’t have to type it in again.) You can check your Rewards Credit Balance, account status, Current Tier and Tier Score. In the Total Rewards section, you can also check your existing reservations, look at special offers and notifications (including exclusive room rates) and manage your notifications.
“Find Casino” is what it sounds like. You can locate a Total Rewards casino anywhere across the country. There are about 40. We would share the exact number of casinos, but we are a Las Vegas blog, not a Total Rewards casino adder-upper.
When making your way to a Total Rewards casino, please avoid running into one of these giant push-pins.
“Search” provides a way to “Find Hotels/Casinos Near Me” (using your device’s GPS thingy) or to search “All Destinations,” including Total Rewards hotels in regions like Atlantic City, New Orleans, Reno and Lake Tahoe, Tunica and others. See the magnificent screen capture below.
We could totally be a screen capturer for a living.
Within “Search,” there is a cavalcade (yes, cavalcade) of information at your fingertips. Find your favorite hotel-casino, and you can choose items like “Gaming,” “Hotel Reviews,” “Events and Entertainment” and “Map and Directions.” “Gaming” (a fancy name for “Gambling”) has information about things like a casino’s slots and table games, sports book and poker room. “Events and Entertainment” gives an overview of the shows at a given resort. “Map and Directions” has to do with directions to the hotel (as opposed to a map of venues within a given hotel-casino, which would be on our wish list for the next version).
“Booking” makes room reservations easy. You select a destination, then use the handy interface to choose a hotel and date ranges to browse room rates. You also have the option to check existing reservations.
So, those are some of the highlights of the new MyTR app.
Overall, it’s a convenient, intuitive way to stay connected to Total Rewards and your favorite hotels, in Vegas and elsewhere. And did we mention how free it is?
Download it, give it a go and let us know what you think in our Comments section.
